Acquaman 2 is in full training mode with Amber Heard. She recently shared a workout photo as she's filming for the newest DCEU film.
After a lackluster introduction in 2017's Justice League, Princess Mera returned in 2018's Aquaman as Arthur Curry's romantic interest. Aquaman was a huge success and grossed over a billion worldwide. Heard's Mera was also in Zack Snyder's Justice League earlier this year.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is Heard's third performance as Mera. The plot details are incredibly hush-hush, but we do know that we'll have some familiar faces: James Wan is returning as director, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Patrick Wilson as Orm Marius, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta. Pilou Asbaek has also joined the cast, but we don't know the role.
Filming began on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom this summer and the cast continues to work hard to stay in superhero shape.
The newest photo from Heard was shared on her Instagram page. She's sprawled on a mat in workout clothing. Heard's caption read: "Another day at the office".
The photo was shared in the middle of the never-ending saga of Heard and her ex-husband Johnny Depp. They have both accused each other of verbal and physical abuse and Depp was forced to step away from the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
Heard and Depp were divorced in 2017; during the proceedings, Heard obtained a restraining order on the allegation of physical abuse by Depp. Depp denied it and later recordings were revealed in which Heard admitted to hitting Depp.
Depp announced last year that he would be stepping away from the Wizarding World franchise and not playing Gellert Grindelwald in the next film. The departure came a few days after he lost a libel case against a British tabloid that called him a “wife-beater.”
Calls for Heard's removal came soon thereafter. A petition by fans circulated quickly demanding Heard's removal from the Aquaman series. It wants her to face the same consequences as her ex.
Producers came out in support of Heard and production carried forth; she has been welcomed back to her role as Princess Mera completely.
