Quentin Tarantino has said he's open to making Kill Bill 3.
The Oscar-winning director, who began with the 1992 indie smash Reservoir Dogs, has made several films that live eternally in the zeitgeist over the last three decades. His films and their warm embrace of violence have earned him devoted fans (and some serious critics).
One of Tarantino's most beloved projects was Kill Bill, a two-part martial arts revenge film starring Uma Thurman. Kill Bill: Vol 1 came out in 2003 and stunned with its cinematography and incredible violence. The second part, Kill Bill: Vol 2 came out in 2004 and pitted Thurman's Bride with her estranged lover Bill (David Carradine). The huge success of the franchise has led fans to speculate for YEARS about a Kill Bill 3.
Variety reported that when Tarantino was asked if his next film would be Kill Bill 3, he said simply, "Why not?"
Tarantino has famously stated that he plans to only make 10 films; whatever his next movie is, it would be that tenth.
Previously, the director had said that the third film was "unlikely", so the cryptic "Why not?" must be pretty exciting to fans. He did further elaborate that he plans on making a Spaghetti Western comedy film, so it's possible he was just kidding.
Of course, nothing is firmly set. Tarantino has never made a sequel for his films; he considers Vol 1 & 2 of Kill Bill to be one film. But his ventures into other genres and mediums certainly seem to indicate that nothing is off the table with Tarantino.
The last time we saw Thurman's The Bride was with her daughter in a quiet retirement, but in Volume 1 she was seen leaving a witness when she killed Vernita Green (Vivica A. Fox): Green's daughter Nikki. Fans have wondered if 3 would feature Nikki avenging her mother.
If I know nothing about Tarantino, however, I do know that he's far more creative and unpredictable than any fan theories on the internet.
