Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has lived many lives, so we shouldn't be surprised anymore by career twists. It has still never occurred to me that he would be the next James Bond, but now the idea is out there.

Talking about who the next James Bond should be has been a favorite pastime for literal generations, but things have risen to a fever pitch since Daniel Craig announced he'd be leaving the role. His final stint as 007 came out this year, No Time to Die. And now it's time to guess who is next.

In a recent interview with Esquire, it came up that there is but one degree of separation between The Rock and Mr. Bond. His grandfather, Peter Maivia, played a villain in 1967's You Only Live Twice. There's a nice title symmetry there!

"My grandfather was a Bond villain," said Johnson. "Very, very cool."

"I would like to follow in his footsteps and be the next Bond," he added. "I don't want to be a villain...Gotta be Bond."

His grandpa played opposite Sean Connery, so we have to get his grandson to play the next villain opposite The Rock. I looked it up and his name is Dashiell and he's also an actor, so that could be a very fun dynamic.

There are a lot of possible Bonds on the playing field, however, so The Rock has some competition. Fans still dream of seeing Idris Elba in the role, but now there's also Bridgerton's Regé-Jean Page and Lashana Lynch, who does literally hold the 007 identity for a while in the last film.

Maybe there can be lots of Bonds, or they can have The Rock sneak in for a cameo and reveal he is also being a secret agent somewhere in the next Bond film. He sure looks good in a suit.
