Social media has continued to be filled with an outpouring of grief and fond memories after it was announced that Betty White had died at the age of 99, just weeks before her 100th birthday. Other actors and entertainment industry folks have had nothing but positive stories to share about their interactions with the legend, and all those who never met her still have plenty to say about how she touched their lives.
One friendship of White’s, in particular, has come up again and again in light of her passing — her friendship with Ryan Reynolds.
“The world looks different now,” the actor tweeted. “She was great at defying expectations. She managed to grow very old and somehow, not old enough.”
Just two days earlier, Reynolds had retweeted a People article about White joking that he “can’t get over her,” exemplifying the special, comedic relationship they had with one another.
Reynolds and White starred together in 2009’s The Proposal, along with Sandra Bullock.
They famously enacted a behind-the-scenes skit in which White played a diva version of herself who kept treating Reynolds as an assistant.
It’s impossible to pick any one Betty White moment as her best, or any one friendship she had with her numerous co-stars over the years as the most fun to remember, but her interactions with Reynolds were still something special.
