My actor brain is tired just thinking about this one!
Comedian Mike Myers, who you may know and love from the Austin Powers series, is slated to play eight characters in the new Netflix series The Pentaverate. He will star alongside Ken Jeong and Keegan-Michael Key.
Netflix recently released its first trailer for the comedy series. In the trailer, we see the history of the Pentaverate, a "benevolent society" that rules the world from behind the scenes. The society was established back in 1347 and is responsible for all big global decisions.
The show follows Ken Scarborough, played by Myers, who is a journalist looking to expose Pentaverate. The series will be six episodes long and available on May 5th.
But the Scarborough character isn't Myers' only turn in the series. He will also play Anthony Landsdowne, a conspiracy theorist; Rex Smith, a far-right radio host; Lord Lordington, the highest-ranking member of the society; Bruce Baldwin, a media mogul; Misu Ivanov, a Russian Oligarch; Shep Gordon, a Rock-and-Roll manager; and Jason Eccleston, a tech genius who invented Pentaverte's computer.
Phew. Long list, right?
Ken Jeong, Keegan-Michael Key, Jeremy Irons, Debi Mazar, Richard McCabe, Jennifer Saunders and Lydia West are also all slated to star in the series.
Myers first made a name for himself as a comedy actor in the Wayne's World films, then starred in Austin Powers and Shrek.
There was recently some buzz about a fourth possible Austin Powers film in development, but that seems to just be fervor fan wishing; franchise director Jay Roach said that Myers had not been inspired to return to the series.
You can check out the full trailer for Myers' new venture below.
Fans are excited. In the comments, one noted, "I've been looking for weird. And Netflix brought it to the table. Can't wait." And yes, that's exactly how I feel about the trailer!
