Johnny Depp's bodyguard, Sean Bett, testified that the relationship between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp was incredibly volatile.

Johnny Depp's bodyguard spoke about witnessing the relationship firsthand. He took the stand in Fairfax County, Virginia in Depp's lawsuit against Heard.

Heard first made allegations of abuse in 2016 when she filed for divorce and accused Depp of abusing her during the marriage. The pair eventually agreed to an expensive settlement with clauses meant to protect both Heard and Depp after the breakup, Heard continued to speak.

Heard’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed did not call out Depp by name, but Depp is suing Heard for libel over the piece. In the op-ed, Heard alleged that Depp verbally and physically abused her during the relationship. Depp is seeking $50 million in damages.

The bodyguard, Sean Bett, said he never saw them physically attack one another save for one incident: he heard Heard throw what may have been a plastic cup or water bottle at Depp.

"I ended up getting him and we got out of there as quickly as possible," Bett said. He also said he overheard Heard mocking Depp.

"I overheard her saying, 'He's a fatass, f-ck you Johnny, and f-ck you, too, Sean,'" said Bett.

Bett recalled Depp telling him about having his finger sliced off and blaming Heard for it. The judge, however, corrected Bett for giving hearsay; the witness in a trial can only testify about information they hold direct knowledge of.

The jury was shown photos that Bett took of injuries to Depp's face after alleged altercations with Heard. Bett said he never saw Heard bearing similar injuries or heard Heard discuss Depp's abuse of her.

Bett continues to work for Depp. He met Heard in 2011 and said he thought she and her family took advantage of Depp. In 2014, Depp and Heard began to engage in heated fights regularly and Heard drank more and more.

"I said, 'Amber, this can't continue. You guys are either going to kill each other or wind up in jail,'" Bett testified. "And with tears and everything, she said, 'But I love him and I'm not going to lose him.'"

After arguments, Bett said he drove Depp away and a few hours or days later, the couple would get back together.

"They would reconcile by talking. She'd have candles lit, a bottle of wine open," Bett said. "Depending on the night, she'd text me and have me pick up food at different restaurants."

After an argument about Depp being late to Heard's 30th birthday party, the pair separated in 2016. When Depp and Bett went to Depp's apartment to get a few personal items, Bett could hear Amber yelling "profanities."

When Bett entered the apartment, Heard "had a look of surprise" and told Depp, "This is the last time you do this to me."

Depp said, according to Bett, "What the hell are you talking about?"

Depp left soon after and Bett said he did not see any physical violence on either party.
