An anonymous juror from the Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard defamation trial spoke to Good Morning America about the jury’s decision, telling the news outlet that they didn’t buy what he called Heard’s “crocodile tears.”
"It didn’t come across as believable," he told GMA. "It seemed like she was able to flip the switch on her emotions. She would answer one question and she would be crying and two seconds later she would turn ice cold. It didn’t seem natural."
He went on to say that Depp "just seemed a little more real in terms of how he responded to questions."
The juror said that Heard’s post-trial statements that Depp’s star status swayed the jury offended him, and that how she acted on the stand played a major part in their decision.
"The crying, the facial expressions, the staring at the jury, all of us were very uncomfortable."
Further on in the article, the juror told GMA that the jury believed that Heard was the aggressor rather than the victim in this case.
"A lot of her story didn't add up," he stated. "The majority of the jury felt that she was the aggressor. She would answer one question and she would be crying and two seconds later she would turn ice cold."
He told the news outlet that the jury came to the conclusion that the two were mutually abusive to each other.
"They had their husband-wife arguments. They were both yelling at each other,” he explained. “I don’t think that makes either of them right or wrong. That’s what you do when you get into an argument, I guess. But to rise to the level of what she was claiming, there wasn’t enough or any evidence that really supported what she was saying.”
The anonymous juror went on to say that Heard’s post-trial accusations that he and the other jurors were swayed by social media were baseless, as he and “at least” three others on the jury didn’t even have social media accounts.
"Some people said we were bribed. That’s not true. Social media did not impact us. We followed the evidence. We didn’t take into account anything outside [the courtroom]. We only looked at the evidence," he said to GMA. "They were very serious accusations and a lot of money involved. So we weren’t taking it lightly."
