As you've probably heard (or even seen) by now a leaked unfinished version of the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer has (allegedly!) been floating around the internet despite Sony's best efforts to purge social media feeds of the video.
At least one version of the video is actually a video of a phone playing a video of a phone recording of another phone playing the trailer (if that hurts your brain picture three phones stacked on top of each other with the bottom phone playing the video), so the quality is less than HD, to say the least. Also, as mentioned, it appears to be missing visual effects, and for a Marvel movie, that's... kind of a big part.
It also appears to be authentic. The trailer was clearly watermarked with the name of someone who worked on visual effects for Thor: Ragnarok and the footage seems to be new and professional and not a fan-made prank. Also, there's the whole "Sony running around and yanking videos down" thing that leads us to believe it's the real deal.
Obviously fans have been frothing at the mouth for Spider-Man: No Way Home news so the leaked trailer prompted tons of rections and also plenty of memes.
A lot of them imagine how Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige responded to the leak. Enjoy!
