nicolas cage retire, nicolas cage won't retire

Actor Nicolas Cage has been blessing us with absolutely unhinged performances in completely bizarre movies for decades, and he hopes to continue acting in this manner for many more decades to come. The man is 57 years old, we haven't even gotten to the age where he can play a wizard! Imagine how many doors that will open.

Right now, Cage is promoting his new movie Prisoners of Ghostland, another promisingly insane vehicle for the thespian.

Cage spoke with Entertainment Weekly, who says he plays a character who has two tiny grenades on either side of his genitals that will blow up if he becomes aroused. So, you know, it's cinema. About this costume choice Cage said:

Social relevance!...These times are very sensitive, man. You don't want to do anything that could offend the opposite sex. I always try to be a gentleman, and I think that was an example, almost like a warning, warning, warning, don't touch! I think that kind of speaks volumes, especially now.

Yes, that is what the feminists want. Two tiny grenades for every penis!

But the heart of the interview comes later, when Cage is asked if he'll ever put down his happy and sad masks and stop acting altogether. Retirement, in other words:

"No, no, no. No, no. That can't happen. To do what I do in cinema has been like a guardian angel for me, and I need it. I'm healthier when I'm working, I need a positive place to express my life experience, and filmmaking has given me that. So I'm never going to retire. Where are we now, 117 movies?

"[Laughs] What's funny is, my argument with people who go, 'You work too much,' was 'I like working, and it's healthy, I'm happy when I'm working, and by the way, guys like Cagney and Bogart, they were doing hundreds of movies.' And then I went, 'I'd better check that,' and I went, 'Oops.' [Laughs] Jerry Lewis was one of my friends, and he and I would go and have dinner together, and he would say, 'How many movies you got?' I go, 'I got about 100, how many you got?' 'I got 40. So you got twice as much as me?' 'Well, I didn't know that, Jerry.'"

It has been reported in the past that Nicolas Cage had some money management issues and basically blew $150 million, so that might explain how much he continues to work as well. On the other hand, he seems to have a lot of energy to burn and what the hell else is he going to do? He's Nicolas Cage!
