It's our first peek at the new Wonka, brought to life by Timothée Chalamet.

We've already seen two Wonka films, but now we're set to get a Netflix animated series and this new Wonka prequel movie. Paul King, who directed Paddington, directs the prequel that will come to theaters in March of 2023.

Wonka also stars Keegan Michael-Key, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, and Olivia Colman. The story will explore Wonka's origins and life pre-chocolate factory. It's not known if the movie is a musical, but we have heard there will be some dance numbers.

On Sunday, Chalamet posted a photo of himself in character. The picture reveals Victorian clothes and that brown top hat. He also posted a photo of the famous Wonka cane.

Fans were immediately stoked.

@HistoryMuppet pointed out that Chalamet looked a bit like Gonzo:

"He can be as hot as he wants as long as he acts like a fucking weirdo troll properly," wrote @danieljironlive on Twitter.

@insufferablygay wrote, "I’d like to pretend we (gayz and gals) won’t collectively thirst after this, but we all know that’s not true."

"They're gonna call him William the whole movie and in the final scene he'll be like "You know what... call me Willy"," wrote @Komaniecki_R.

And @izzzyzzzArt wrote, "Calling it now Willy Wonka is gonna replace the onceler as a capitalist suit-wearing Tumblr sexyman."

"I used to allow men who dressed like this to hurt my feelings in art school. But we serve a mighty god and I am delivert," joked @Ryan_Ken_Acts.

Not everyone was thrilled, though.

@anythinqlikeme wrote, "No one asked for this."

And @thrasherxy said what we've all be thinking for a while:

Enough prequels. Enough sequels. Leave some room for pure imagination, where—when living there—you can be free (to ruminate on what lies outside a story) if you truly wish to be. Enough over explaining! Enough nostalgia! New stories. New ideas. New concepts, please!

And famous fans also got in on the excitement.
