Did you know we're getting a new installment of the Scream franchise?
After months of excitement for the franchise's newest installment, we finally got a peek at the first trailer.
The 2022 picture is expected to start 25 years after Woodsboro's string of murders. A new killer has taken up the Ghostface mantle and is haunting a new group of teens while getting into old secrets.
The Ready or Not team, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will be directing the spooky thriller. Excitingly, we get to see Neve Campbell return as Sidney Prescott. We'll also spot Courtney Cox and David Arquette as Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley. To round out the cast we have Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Marley Shelton, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Sonia Ammar.
In the trailer, Dewey asks Sidney in a phone call, “It’s happening, three attacks so far. Do you have a gun?”
“I’m Sidney Prescott, of course I have a gun,” she snaps back.
Ghostface is packing some new tricks, too. In the trailer, the killer opens the door locks on a smart home wirelessly—yikes.
The original Scream film was released in 1996 and was penned by Kevin Williamson, who has returned as an executive producer on this movie.
"Knowing that Kevin Williamson was an executive producer on it set me at ease," Arquette told Entertainment Weekly. "He really knows the tone. I mean, he set the whole world up!"
Check out the new Scream trailer below. It hits theaters on Jan. 14th of 2022.
Excited fans on YouTube were quick to comment.

Brendon Smith said, "Definitely how to reboot a franchise for the modern era. “I’m Sidney Prescott. Of course I have a gun.” Straight up facts after 4 previous films."
Danny T noted, "I truly wish with iconic slashers like these they would leave all kills out of the trailer. Nonetheless this looks so great!"
And David Robert Tummy said, "Holy CRAP this looks legit amazing!!! "It's an honor, Sidney" CHILLS."
