Choose your fighter. Two nurse sharks OR a saltwater crocodile?
The tense stand-off occurred in 2017 and was captured on video by fishermen in northwestern Australia, in the Kimberley region. The video recently resurfaced on the Internet, thanks to social media.
Posted on Instagram by @jtux, two nurse sharks are seen calmly swimming near a saltwater crocodile that remains tensely still as it is being circled.
While the pair of tawny nurse sharks look harmful but they tend to not eat anything bigger than themselves, mostly eating smaller fish and more petite-sized sharks.
The saltwater crocodile on the other hand will eat whatever he damn well pleases and he's a formidable predator. His favorite meals include monkeys and buffalos, but he enjoys the occasional great white shark, just as a treat.
This opportunistic hunter likes to drown his victim, I mean his dinner, before going to chow town.
But the nurse sharks do have the advantage of strength in numbers... Which they played to their advantage during the face-off in the film recording.
Miraculously, neither parties end up snapping at each other.
Some commenters on the Instagram post really said it best.
Now, that we've got that covered... can we return to a more worthwhile argument made popular by the 2007 comedy Hot Rod—grilled cheese versus taco, who would win in a fight???
(Spoiler alert: it's the grilled cheese.)
