A scientist named Dr. Julian De Silva is trying to make eugenics hot again by measuring people's faces and deciding who qualifies as beautiful. De Silva's methods are based on something called the "Golden ratio," which means he is using "scientific" analysis of the space between eyes, noses, mouths, and chins to say who we should consider attractive.
He is also a facial cosmetic surgeon, so it might be that he's trying to justify being in business. And tell people who they should be looking like!
De Silva had a top ten list from amongst celebrities, who are more likely to be considered hot anyway. He counted down from ten to one, but we will just say directly that it's Mr. Vampire himself, Robert Pattinson. Pattinson's "Golden Ratio Rating" is 92.15 percent. His forehead is 93.6 percent, his eye position is 94.7 percent, though his lips are only 82 percent. If none of those numbers mean anything to you, that's because you can't actually measure attraction or beauty, since many of those things are socially determined and this is super weird.
But we can't argue that a lot of the people De Silva used as examples of hotties are in fact hotties. Though he did score Ryan Gosling low for his lips. Yeah, blech, who would want to kiss this guy?
Kanye West was marked down for "face shape" which I'd love to hear his response to.
Idris Elba made the list, naturally, but I am not even going to talk about what De Silva says about his mouth and nose because it feels icky.
