The new reboot from Matt Reeves is set to delve into the early years of Bruce Wayne a la Frank Miller's comic Batman: Year One. The Batman sees Wayne go up against villains from his rogue's gallery: John Turturro's Carmine Falcone, Zoë Kravitz's Catwoman aka Selina Kyle, and Colin Farrell’s Penguin AKA Oswald Cobblepot. But the main antagonist? It's Paul Dano’s Edward Naston... AKA... The Riddler.

In The Batman, Riddler is a serial killer who haunts Gotham City. He spirals duct tape around the heads of his victims and leaves clues and taunts for Batman. One of Riddler's victims is the mayor himself, Don Mitchell Jr., and the body is discovered with the line "NO MORE LIES" scrawled on his face. The funeral takes place on-screen in the film and gives the Riddler another chance to cause problems.

Mediafilm's Twitter account shared a clip from the film that shows us Riddler attacking the funeral. In the clip, Jeffrey Wright's Jim Gordon talks about a missing D.A. with another officer before Wayne spots the riddler. A car careens through the church carrying Colson and a message for Batman.

The clip seems to indicate that the Riddler already knows Batman's true identity. We've also seen hints that the movie will delve into the Wayne family's position within Gotham City and the corruption therein. It's going to be thorny for Batman: in order to defeat Riddler, he'll need to come to terms with his family's involvement with the problems of the city.

The Riddler hasn't been seen in a live-action movie since Batman Forever back in 1995. Jim Carrey brought the villain to life in that film, which was far more goofy than what The Batman seems to be positioning itself to be.
