An amazing movie or television series isn't complete without an equally amazing villain. Now, the best villains fall into two categories. You have the ones whose actions are hard to justify, and that makes them horrible beings. But then you have the ones that are relatable. These villains are doing bad things, but you understand where they're coming from; you may even sympathize with their tragic backstories and this makes them so bad, they're good.
In a recent Reddit thread, people are discussing the second category by answering the question: "What villain can you just not hate?"
The answers include characters like the beloved Grinch, a cat named Tom, and many other baddies.
Here are 20 fictional bad guys people just can't seem to get enough of, according to Reddit.
1. Tom from Tom and Jerry
Dude was just looking after his owner's home from that damn rat

2. Yzma from The Emperor's New Groove
For one, she’s just so crazy that it’s hard to be afraid of her and you end up just liking her. She and Kronk have such great chemistry too.
3. Hank Scorpio from The Simpsons
“On your way out, if you wanna kill somebody, it would help me a lot.”
4. GLaDOS from Half-Life
She is just so crazy and hilarious you forget she enjoys gassing innocents.
5. LEGO Joker from The LEGO Batman Movie
The Lego version of any movie villain are the best, especially in games.
6. The Monarch from The Venture Bros
His rant about hating Dr Venture is one of my favorite lines of dialog in the series

7. Robbie Rotten from LazyTown
Great example because he’s not a murderer or anything, just a troublemaker, so you can actually sympathise with him without feeling bad about it.
8. The Ice King from Adventure Time
It's just a tragic backstory. He's just lonely and desperate for friends.
9. Magneto from The X-Men
A great villain has a realistic motivation to believe they are morally justified, and that's why I love like magneto. His actions are out of revenge and self preservation. He's not evil for the sake of profit or power, he could be portrayed as a hero in the right story.
10. Shego from Kim Possible
She's soo entertaining and one of my cartoon crushes growing up, one of the reasons why I watch that show.
11. Jessie and James from Pokémon
They are the least competent villains ever and that makes me love them even more.
12. Davy Jones from the Pirates of the Caribbean series
He’s so extra too. His first scene has him emerging from the water, walking along a line of terrified sailors while smoking from a pipe, stopping in front of one of them and saying “Do you fear death?” It’s an absolutely amazing way to introduce a character.

14. Wile E. Coyote from Looney Tunes
Imagine you haven’t eaten all day and get in your car and hit the KFC drive thru and you get your bucket and it smells good and you drive home with your stomach rumbling and your mouth salivating and you get inside and you open the bucket and inside there’s just a lit stick of dynamite. You barely have time to think “what? How?” before it explodes in your face, teeth flying everywhere, your face caked in soot. From the living room you hear “bawk bawk!” And the scrabbling of chicken claws against hardwood before the door slams behind the chicken as it dashes down the street and into the sunset. You just wanted a meal.

15. The Grinch from How the Grinch Stole Christmas
He wouldn't be so grumpy if there wasn't a dude singing songs, every 5 minutes, about what a piece of shit he is.
16. Hades from Hercules
Huge POS, but f--k if he wasn’t entertaining.
17. Les Grossman from Tropic Thunder

18. Tai Lung from Kung Fu Panda
Who can hate Tai Lung?
He's such a well-developed character and I feel like he's more of a tragic character than a villain.
19. Skeletor from the Masters of the Universe
He has always been my favorite and always will be. But he was an asshole to the fullest. All he ever did was talk shit to his minions and bring them down. I used to joke that the reason why he never succeeded was because none of his support team had any self-confidence left…
20. Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer
His "out for a walk..b-tch" line randomly pops into my head every once in a while and I still laugh, he was a great character.
