Schumer recently complained that she was left "triggered and traumatized" by Will Smith's slap during the Oscars but apparently is fine making a joke about a deadly accident.

In case you missed it, Will Smith walked on stage at the Oscars and hit Chris Rock across the face over a joke.

“Jada, I love you,” Rock had said. “G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it.” Rock’s reference cited the star of the film, Demi Moore, who buzzed her head for the movie.

Jada Pinkett Smith has previously opened up about having alopecia, an autoimmune disorder that causes hair loss. She’s shared her experiences on social media and has helped others with the condition. Rock’s joke went over like a dead weight with her; she rolled her eyes. After initially laughing, Will Smith walked onto the stage and smacked Rock in the face.

After Smith returned to his seat, he shouted “Keep my wife’s name out your f–king mouth” repeatedly at Rock.

It was a huge event that sparked major controversy at the Awards, especially after Smith's sanctimonious Oscar acceptance speech. The ordeal saw Smith leave the Academy entirely and has even rippled consequences through the actor's union, SAG-AFTRA.

The ceremony, which was co-hosted by Amy Schumer, Regina Hall, and Wanda Sykes, went on. Schumer made a crack about what happened when she returned to the stage.

“I’ve been getting out of that Spider-Man costume, did I miss anything? There’s like, a different vibe in here…” she joked.

Later on social media, Schumer said she had been "triggered and traumatized" by Smith's violent act.

The Instagram post in which she wrote this has since been deleted.

"I think we can all agree that the best way to unpack what happened is to stream my series @lifeandbethhulu and see me on tour this fall,” the post said. “But for real. Still triggered and traumatized.”

“I love my friend @chrisrock and believe he handled it like a pro. Stayed up there and gave an Oscar to his friend @questlove and the whole thing was so disturbing,” Amy went on. "So much pain in @willsmith anyway I’m still in shock and stunned and sad. I’m proud of myself and my cohosts. But yeah. Waiting for this sickening feeling to go away from what we all witnessed."

However, Schumer made a crack about the incident in her first stand-up routine since the Oscars at the Mirage Theater in Las Vegas.

She called Smith "Ali", a reference to boxer Muhammed Ali.

“I was kind of feeling myself and then all of a sudden Ali was making his way up. And it was just a f-cking bummer. All I can say is that was really sad, and I think it says so much about toxic masculinity.”

“It was really upsetting, but I think the best way to comfort ourselves would be for me to say the Oscar jokes that I wasn’t allowed to say on TV."

“I want to preface these Oscar jokes by saying that my lawyer said not to say these. Don’t tell anybody and don’t get mad at me,” she said.

Schumer then started sharing one-liners she wanted to make at the Awards show about Joe Rogan and James Franco. And then she bombshell: an insensitive joke about the fatal on-set shooting. On the set of Rust, an Alec Baldwin film, Baldwin mistakenly shot a gun that then killed the cinematographer and injured another member of the crew.

Schumer's joke? "Don’t Look Up is the name of a movie? More like don’t look down the barrel of Alec Baldwin’s shotgun. I wasn't allowed to say any of that [at the Oscars], but you can just come up and [slap] someone."

The cinematographer who was killed was Halyna Hutchins. Baldwin was rehearsing a shot for the indie movie and had been told the gun was safe to handle. He says he did not pull the trigger. Baldwin maintains that the gun's hammer was back but not cocked, but when he released the hammer, the gun went off.

"I would never point a gun at anyone and pull a trigger at them. Never. Never," Alec told ABC News in December. "That was the training that I had. You don't point a gun at somebody and pull the trigger."

Given the tragic nature of what happened on the set of Rust, Schumer's joke has gone over like a pile of rocks.

A Twitter user wrote, “Amy Schumer really looked the situation involving Will Smith and Chris Rock and thought ‘How do I not only make it about me, but also find a way to still tell an incredibly tasteless and insensitive joke that makes me look like a callous monster?’”

"@amyschumer what the actual fuck ? You CANNOT compare a joke like that (and lets be honest, it‘s not funny to joke about someone being K*lled by a prop gun) to someone slapping someone else on stage,” said @westandwithjojo.

"Imagine being a rich white woman and being “triggered” by a man slapping another man, somehow making it about you and then being mad you couldn’t joke about another woman’s death. @amyschumer valiantly made herself a victim," wrote @janessaannie.
