The trial is set to begin on April 11th in Virginia. Depp is suing Heard for libel over an op-ed about their marriage in The Washington Post.

In that op-ed, she said that Depp verbally and physically abused her during the relationship. Depp is seeking $50 million in damages.

In a statement, Ethan Nelson, the acting head of Court TV, said, "Court cases that are as high-profile as this one often create a lot of noise, and it can be difficult for viewers to break through these distractions to have a clear picture of the facts, but that's where we come in. Between the camera feed directly from the courtroom and our first-class lineup of talent, Court TV will be the true source of an unbiased, down-the-middle perspective of the trial as it unfolds."

Though Depp has denied allegations of domestic abuse, he lost a libel case against the paper; he sued after they called him a "wife-beater."

Pirates of the Caribbean / Disney

Since then, Depp was removed from the Fantastic Beasts franchise while Amber Heard has been allowed to continue her work in the Aquaman series, both Warner Bros. productions. Fans have been vocal about what they perceive as unfair treatment of the pair.

Depp filed the lawsuit initially in 2019 after Heard wrote that she had survived domestic abuse in 2018. She did not name Depp specifically, but it was enough that Depp felt he had grounds to sue. He accused her of creating a "hoax."

Heard wrote at the time: "Friends and advisers told me I would never again work as an actress — that I would be blacklisted," Heard wrote at the time. "A movie I was attached to recast my role. I had just shot a two-year campaign as the face of a global fashion brand, and the company dropped me."

Aquaman / Warner Bros.

Heard asked for the suit to be dismissed, citing Depp's loss of a libel case in the UK over a tabloid that called him abusive. The judge in America dismissed her request.

At the time, Judge Penney Azcarate wrote, “The Court is not persuaded by Defendant’s [Heard] argument that Plaintiff [Depp] had a full and fair opportunity to litigate the UK Action.”

He has also said that the article, which ran in the Washington Post, cost him a job in the Pirates reboot by Disney.

Now you too can be part of this drama by watching on April 11th on CourtTV.
