Following Ezra Miller's arrest, Warner Bros. and DC Films have both held emergency meetings about Miller's future in the DC Extended Universe.
Miller was recently arrested in Hilo, Hawaii due to disorderly conduct and harassment. Soon after, reports surfaced about a couple who had filed a restraining order against Miller, who had reportedly broken into their apartment, stolen items, and threatened to kill them.
Before the arrest in Hilo, Miller was spoken to by police after being denied entry to a different bar because he had been kicked out of another bar on the same street; he walked off with a trespass warning.
Additionally, in April of 2020, a video of Miller choking a young woman in Reykjavik, Iceland circled online. Miller, somehow, was not arrested and the woman did not press charges. (You'd think that VISUAL VIOLENCE AGAINST A WOMAN would be enough, but Warner Bros. did nothing.)
This time, however, seems to be the straw.
Warner Bros. and DC films held an emergency meeting to discuss the situation. Miller has been playing Barry Allen since October 2014 and was one of the first actors to join the DCEU. A solo film was announced for Miller's character but multiple delays have stuck The Flash in development stasis. Miller has popped up in other DC projects, including Suicide Squad and Batman v. Superman.
The Flash finished principal photography in 2021 and Warner Bros. delayed the release to June of 2023 to finish special effects, but with the arrest and restraining order coming to light, Warner Bros. has a very different issue.
Rolling Stone reported that the studios had a meeting on March 30th about Miller's future. Warner Bros. is reported to be pausing future appearances from Miller in the DCEU, including a sequel to The Flash and any cameos.
Neither Miller nor Warner Bros have made public statements about the arrest. Miller is also a member of the Fantastic Beasts franchise, also by Warner Bros, which famously recast Johnny Depp for its upcoming entry into the film series.
