DC has just dropped the ultimate 2022 teaser, sending fans into a tailspin.
The minute-long trailer entitled 'The World Needs Heroes' featured a number of upcoming superhero movies premiering in 2022... and introduced some new characters into the DC universe as well.
The spot is slotted to air during Super Bowl LVI this Sunday.
First, audiences catch a glimpse of Robert Pattinson as Batman for Matt Reeve's The Batman. Included in the cast are Zoe Kravtiz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Colin Farrel as Penguin, and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon. We'll get to see Batman dive into Gotham City's underworld next month, premiering on March 4th.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was shown in his Black Adam costume, the blockbuster is set to be released in July.
Fans of Johnson have been excited for the former WWE wrestler to star as the anti-hero in the spinoff of Shazam! Tony-nominated actor Zachary Levy was also shown in the advertisement, reprising his role as Shazam/Captain Marvel.
The teaser also revealed the casting of Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate.
...and showed him in costume:
Also in costume, the DC hero Atom...
...and Hawkman:
Next, Ezra Miller was shown starring as Barry Allen in The Flash, set to be released in November 2022.
You might notice more than one Flash in this picture. That's because the plot follows Barry Allen as travels back in time to prevent his mother from being murdered, and the not-so-great consequences that follow after. Expect Batman to show up because Batman veterans Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck will both reprise their roles as the crime-fighting vigilante. Affleck had told Harold Sun that his scenes in The Flash were his favorite as the character and he believed that it was a "nice finish" for his time as Batman.
Last, but certainly not least, Jason Momoa and his luscious locks will grace your screen again come mid-December in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Momoa dramatically voiced, "What could be better than a king... A hero." Allegedly Momoa himself actually pitched the plot for the sequel during the production of the first movie. Notably, Nicole Kidman is expected to return as Aquaman's momma.
Let the world-expanding begin!
