It has been twenty-six years since the last Beavis and Butt-Head movie (Beavis and Butt-Head Do America) but it's here: the pair of dingbat teenage boys have returned and they're doing the entire universe this time.
Mike Judge created the TV show back in the 90s. It features Beavis and Butt-Head, teenage slackers who are dumb as rocks and cannot get a woman to give them the time of day (rightfully so). The series was originally a short film created in 1992 and was broadcast by MTV's animation arm, Liquid Television. Eventually the show ran for 8 seasons.
The trailer shows the dopiest space movie of all time. The creators, in fact, have called it “dumbest science fiction movie ever made.”
The duo are sentenced to Space Camp by a judge in 1998, which takes them on a journey to the space shuttle. It ... uh, doesn't go well. They zip through a black hole and discover 2022. They get into assorted trouble as they try desperately to pick up chicks and figure out how to use iPhones.
The movie will premiere on Paramount+ on June 23rd.
Judge announced the film earlier this year via Twitter, showing off some behind the scenes sketches.
In 2020, Comedy Central announced that it planned to reboot the series and Judge signed on to helm the spin-offs, episodes, and specials.
Paramount+ announced that they will be adding the entire 8 seasons of the original show the same day the new film lands in their streaming platform.
Comments in the YouTube video for the trailer are uniformly excited:
"Beavis and Butthead are the heroes we need, but don't deserve," wrote NuJ4X.
Other fans offered their sincere thanks for bringing back the beloved pair. "They returned when we needed them the most," said another person.
"I was smiling the entire trailer, it looks to be a great 90 minutes," wrote in C. Davis.
