Co-writer for Marvel comics such as those in the popular Iron Man series Christopher Cantwell joked (we hope) on Twitter that he will kill off Iron Man and blame a kid named Ryan specifically if he pushes Cantwell's son off the slide one more time.

The writer's son is currently in preschool, and with the beginning of schooling tends to come issues with other children as they're thrown into the social gauntlet, which can lead to conflicts over things like playground equipment and personal space.

"A kid in my son’s preschool bragged about reading Marvel Comics but he also pushed my son off the top of the slide, so I told my son to tell him that if that happens again, I’m going to kill Iron Man in the next issue and have him say as he’s dying 'This is because of Ryan,'" Cantwell tweeted.

Don't worry, Iron Man fans—Cantwell clearly meant this as a joke. Aside from the fact that he would probably need permission from the studio to do something as radical as killing off the title character, he probably wouldn't do that to a kid, even if he did have the power to do so. He seemed to suggest that he does have that power, however, though it may have been a typo.

"I obviously have power to do this and no message will be relayed, as much I’m tempted to engage in racketeering with children’s imaginations," Cantwell added. "'Nice Obi-Wan… be a shame if somethin’ happened to it.'"

In all seriousness, little Ryan may not be a bully at all but simply a small child who needs some help with his impulse control. However, bullying is a pervasive problem in the U.S., and one that our schools can't seem to get a handle on. One out of every five students in the country reports being the target of some form of bullying, though physical bullying is less common, affecting about one out of every 20 kids in school, according to the National Bullying Prevention Center.

Cantwell, aside from parenting, is currently working with Christopher C. Rogers on the TV series Halt and Catch Fire, a period drama set during the personal computer revolution of the 1980s and going into the advent of public access to the internet in the 90s. The series marks both Christophers' first forays into television writing.

Today, however, Cantwell is best known for his joke about Ryan, which is now turning into something of a meme among Marvel fans. Others speculated that the nefarious Ryan may begin to show up in the Marvel universe in unexpected ways, or supported the surprising plot twist in which Tony Stark is murdered for the crimes of Ryan.

It also wouldn't (spoiler alert) be the first time Iron Man was killed in an entry in the Marvel universe, which you would know if you'd been following the major films from the franchise in recent years. RIP again, Tony Stark.

The joke has now morphed into one of the more amusing Twitter threads of the day, especially if you happen to be a comic books nerd.
