One of my recurring dreams is that I find a secret room in my house. I love this dream, but it's inevitably so disappointing because, I promise you, I have found 100% of every square inch of my home.
So it's with some degree of jealousy that I share with you that Drew Barrymore has lived my dream and found a hidden window inside her New York City apartment.
Barrymore is currently renovating her NYC apartment (also jealous). She noted, "Don’t mind me, I’m just having the time of my LIFE."
And found... A hidden window.
Her dream. My dream. Goddamn, it's so cool.
Her reaction is classic Barrymore and it quickly went viral.
People were so smitten with Drew's reaction. One user wrote, "I love you so so much and want to be your bff asap."
Another chimed in, "She is so stinking adorable! She sees the joy in life and I appreciate that."
And honestly, shouldn't we all feel this way sometimes? Just overtaken by a deep appreciation for something so small, so relatively insignificant? That capacity for joy is so special and I totally get it: she WOULD be a wonderful friend. It makes me wildly happy that so many people appreciate her, this moment, and her demo project.
She explains in the video that the previous owners covered the window with drywall (WHYYY).
She tore it up and the reveal overwhelmed her
"I knew there was a window. I knew it," she exclaimed.
"It's so hopeful," she said.
"It's like something can be so covered up and dark. You can pry it open and create light."
Oh, Drew. How lovely.
