On Tuesday, it was announced that comedian Norm Macdonald had died at age 61, after a nine-year battle with cancer, a diagnosis he kept very private. At the time of his death, HuffPost reports he was still scheduled to participate in the New York Comedy Festival this coming November.
Macdonald was a very influential stand up comic, who had a memorable stint on Saturday Night Live, many films including Billy Madison, and his starring role in the cult hit Dirty Work, and was well known as a wonderful roaster of his friends:
Those friends turned to social media to share what a loss this was for them and to the comedy community in general, including anecdotes about how funny he was, how delightful he was to talk to when the cameras were on or off, and how generally beloved his sense of humor was amongst all different types of comedians:
