Actor Jeff Bridges shared his personal story of battling cancer on his website this week, saying he began treatment in January of 2021 after being diagnosed with lymphoma. Shortly after his treatment, he received a letter saying that both he and his wife, Sue Bridges, were likely exposed to COVID-19. They went together to the ICU and got tested and were both positive for the virus.
His wife was in the hospital for five days, but Bridges says he ended up being hospitalized for five whole weeks.
"The reason I'm there so long is because my immune system is shot from the chemo," he wrote. "My dance with [COVID-19] makes my cancer look like a piece of cake."
On the bright side, his "9x12 inch tumor has shrunk to a 2x2 thing."

Bridges didn't want to share his diagnosis until his condition improved. And it sounds like it was pretty bad.
"While I had moments of tremendous pain (screaming singing, a sort of moaning song all through the night) getting close to the pearly gates, all in all, I felt happy & joyous most of the time," he confessed. "This brush with mortality has brought me a real gift - life is brief and beautiful. Love is all around us and available @ all times."
Since his recovery has taken off, Bridges has set a goal for himself—his daughter's wedding day.
"I had a goal – walking my daughter Hayley down the aisle," he said. "She was getting married to a wonderful guy, Justin Shane. Thanks to Zach and my terrific medical team, I was able to not only walk Hay down the aisle, but do the father/bride dance with her without oxygen."
Congratulations on your recovery, Mr. Bridges, we want nothing but perfect health for the ultimate Dude.
