Marvel's What If...? is halfway through its first season and it just dropped a new trailer about what's coming — and we're stoked.
That's right, we're getting Guardians of the Multiverse! And a few other peeks about what's in store for the Disney+ series, What If...? Over the first five episodes of the series, we've explored different scenarios in the MCU, including a Peggy Carter who took the super-soldier serum and a zombie apocalypse. Since the real MCU has blown open, technically everything in What If...? would be considered perfectly canon.
There are four more episodes remaining of the animated series. Episode 6 sees the return of Michael B. Jordan's Killmonger ... as a hero! Future episodes are still under wraps but the trailers have given fans a few hints here and there; this mid-season trailer offers the best peek at what's in store, so let's check it out!
On Tuesday, Marvel dropped the new trailer, which features old and new footage. Two Doctor Stranges, for example (a wink at episode 4). But there's an awful lot of new stuff too.
We get a new peek at Guardians of the Multiverse in the What If...? trailer, which is definitely what everyone is talking about. The Guardians are set in a shot that mirrors the iconic shot of the 2012 Avengers. We see Black Widow, Captain Carter, T'Challa as Star Lord, Thor, and Gamora facing down some kind of threat, though we aren't made aware of what that threat is. The shot confirms that characters who seem to live in their own timelines will actually converge in one.
We also see Tony Stark with the Infinity Gauntlet, which makes us think there's an Endgame episode ahead. There are definitely a ton of surprises in store for us in these next four episodes and I know I can't wait to see what they are. What are your theories?
