With The Matrix Resurrections on everybody’s mind, stories about everybody’s favorite, Keanu Reeves, have been making headlines, reminding us that he’s really earned his reputation as the nicest guy in Hollywood.
The story currently making the rounds is the one about how Reeves reportedly donated 70% of his salary from the first Matrix film back in the day to cancer research.
According to the New York Post, that would have amounted to something like $31.5 million.
Reeves’s interest in fighting cancer comes from his sister, Kim, having battled blood cancer for eight years at the time. He even wound up quietly setting up a nonprofit that “helps aid a couple of children’s hospitals and cancer research,” as he eventually told Ladies Home Journal back in 2009.
Considering there’s also been a story going around for some time that Reeves gave away something like $75 million to the crew from his eventual profits off the original trilogy, there’s no question about his generosity.
And as usual, the internet only loved him more after hearing this latest claim about his kindness.
Fortunately, Keanu’s sister Kim went into remission back in 2001, but that hasn’t stopped him from continuing to fund cancer research and give back to other cancer-related charities.
He’s Keanu Reeves. What do you expect?
