Actor Christopher Meloni, best known for his portrayal of Detective Elliott Stabler in the show Law and Order, recently took to Twitter to clap back at Silver Spoons actor Ricky Schroder’s anti-vaccination video rant.

Schroder participated in the “Freedom Convoy” protest in Washington, D.C. the other day and recorded the video in his truck and posted it to social media. This protest was inspired by Canadian truckers' protest of the same name, which was run by a group of Canadian truckers who are against COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

In the video, the Silver Spoons actor turned the camera to show his view of the National Mall, between the U.S. Capitol and Washington Monument, where he was waiting for the anti-COV-19 vaccinations protest to start. He then told viewers that he is an anti-vaxxer because vaccine mandates violate his principles of bodily autonomy.

Schroder called vaccines an "experiment" on people’s bodies, which ignores the fact that vaccinate are proven to be safe and effective in both preventing the contraction of COVID-19 and reducing the severity of symptoms should one contract the virus.

The actor said in his rant, “Our bodies are our own; we own this. We get to decide what goes in and what goes out. Understood? It's our bodies. Free the military from this experiment, too. God bless [the] United States of America."

The video rant went viral on Twitter, and actor Meloni took notice. He clapped back at the conservative actor’s views, asking simply, “So……pro abortion ?” Given that conservatives have been so staunchly anti-choice for decades now, it is surprising and concerning that the anti-masking, anti-vaccine movement has chosen to claim the pro-choice feminist slogan, “my body, my choice.”

In the 1905 Supreme Court case of Jacobson v. Massachusetts, according to Oyez, the Court “held that the [vaccine] law was a legitimate exercise of the state's police power to protect the public health and safety of its citizens. Local boards of health determined when mandatory vaccinations were needed, thus making the requirement neither unreasonable nor arbitrarily imposed.”

It has been proven by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as studies done on the subject, one as recent as August 2021, that vaccinations are more beneficial to the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The August 2021 study concluded, "unvaccinated individuals are more than twice as likely to be reinfected with COVID-19 than those who were fully vaccinated after initially contracting the virus." Additionally, the study found that vaccines "offer better protection than natural immunity alone and that vaccines, even after prior infection, help prevent reinfections.”

People on Twitter are praising Meloni for his message to Schroder.
