Ryan Reynolds, People's 2010 Sexiest Man Alive, is taking a break from acting.
According to Buzzfeed the Canadian actor just wrapped up the musical Spirited — a musical version of Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol.
Reynolds portrays a Scrooge-like figure, with Academy-award-winning Octavia Spencer, cast as his coworker, and comedian Will Ferrell starring as the Ghost of Christmas Present.
In the Instagram post, Reynolds wrote, "Perfect time for a little sabbatical from movie making. I’m gonna miss every second working with this obscenely gifted group of creators and artists."
Naturally, his partner had to make a playful jab about his sabbatical announcement.
PS: Michael Caine didn't really retire from acting, that was just speculation.
What will the doting father and husband do with his spare time?
In an interview with Linkedin, he elaborated, "The biggest thing for me...is that I don't want to miss this time with my kids... I think it's totally important for their development, and I really enjoy being a present dad."
Reynolds and his wife, actress Blake Lively, have stated before in the past that the actors take turns taking on projects, so at least one parent is really present for their three daughters — James, 6, Inez, 5, and Betty, 2.
The Gossip Girl star explained to People in 2017, “My husband and I don’t work at the same time, so we all go together as a family. If we’re away as a family, it’s never more than for a day. We stay together.”
With Reynolds operating multiple business ventures and the recent success with his latest Netflix release Red Notice, it seems safe to say that we are about to enter a Lively renaissance.
Lively's next silver screen appearance The Husband's Secret, based on the Liane Moriarty novel of the same name, is currently under development.
